Delbert McClinton ist eine Legende unter Musikliebhabern aus Texas, nicht nur wegen seiner erstaunlichen Langlebigkeit, sondern auch wegen seiner Fähigkeit, Country, Blues, Soul und Rock & Roll so zu kombinieren, als gäbe es keinen Unterschied zwischen ihnen. Als hervorragender Mundharmonikaspieler trat McClinton lange vor seiner Aufnahme als Sänger mit Legenden wie Howlin 'Wolf, Jimmy Reid und anderen auf. McClintons Karriere begann Ende der 50er Jahre, doch es dauerte fast zwei Jahrzehnte, bis er sich zu einem echten Solokünstler entwickelte. 1978 brachte Emmylou Harris seine 'Two More Bottles of Wine' an die Spitze der Country-Charts. In den nächsten Jahren platzierte McClinton Material unter anderem bei Stars wie Wynonna, Vince Gill, Lee Roy Parnell und Martina McBride. Er hat Gastauftritte bei Tom Petty, Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, BB King, Mavis Staples und anderen.
