The Other Great, Distinguished 'Heavy' Band from the Bay Area (Metallica Being One) Captured Live and in Concert at the Legendary UK Venue on April 28th, 1990. Highlights Include the MTV Favorites 'Epic' and 'falling to Pieces', Plus a Cover of Black Sabbath's 'War Pigs', the Underrated Track 'From Out of Nowhere' and More. Faith No More waren ganz fraglos eine grandiose Live-Band, die selbst unter ungünstigsten Voraussetzungen das Publikum für sich zu gewinnen und zu begeistern wusste. Um so ärgerlicher ist es, daß Live At The Brixton Academy der einzige offizielle Konzertmitschnitt ist, weil dieses Album zwei gravierende Probleme hat: Zum einen ist der Sound äußerst bescheiden ausgefallen und schlechter als bei manchem Bootleg, zum anderen hatten Faith No More 1991 ihren kreativen Zenit noch lange nicht erreicht. So basiert die Setlist mit fünf von acht Songs hauptsächlich auf dem bis dato erfolgreichsten Album der Band: The Real Thing. Dieses Crossover-Masterpiece wirft u.a. mit "From Out Of Nowhere", "Falling To Pieces" und "Epic" zwar etliche Hits ab, repräsentiert das Schaffen der Band jedoch nur unvollständig. Unverständlich ist zudem, dass vom Debüt zwar der obligatorische Hit "We Care A Lot" vertreten ist, die Introduce Yourself-Single "Anne´s Song" dagegen ignoriert wird. Als kleine Entschädigung gibt´s dafür eine gelungene Coverversion des Black-Sabbath-Klassikers "War Pigs" und zwei neue Studio-Tracks. Live At The Brixton Academy ist übrigens auch als Video mit drei weiteren Stücken erhältlich. --Marcus Schleutermann.
