Punky pop with attitude, poignancy, insight. and an absolute ton of melody! That pretty much sums up 'and another thing .', the debut album from Lucy Beegle, now re-released on Laughing Outlaw Records. This album was the follow-up to their self-titled independent EP, which received Triple J airplay and spent three weeks at the top of the 4ZZZ chart. Now sadly no longer together, just who the hell were Lucy Beegle anyway? Basically they were an all-girl 3-piece from Brisbane who knew exactly why Marshall amps were created in the first place. Based around the somewhat unique life observations of vocalist and guitarist Alyson Locke (mmm, try 'I cannot forgive you anymore, You slammed my pinkie in the door, And I believe that's unforgivable' from 'Unforgivable'. and. 'There are times when I feel really sad, But it doesn't last forever, Cos I take myself whenever to the shop, But now there's no Coke machine near my place' from 'Coke Machine'.or.'I go out to a club and face the world of romance, With my perfume on I'm sure I'm worth a small glance' from 'Unattractive'). Lucy Beegle roared through sixteen glorious pop/punk gems on 'and another thing .'. They're the sorts of songs which, after one or two listens, jam up your brain with melody to the point where you just gotta say is 'I need this band in my life'. What do they sound like? Imagine if Green Day or the brudders Ramone were young grrrls from Brizvegas.with Jonathon Richman and Ben Lee penning their lyrics. Ooooh! Get the idea? Thought so.
