Trio Amore is an ensemble of professional artists that has been performing together since 1994, and is committed to presenting an abundance of traditional Italian music and opera for the public's enjoyment. The trio features the voices of soprano Maria Fassio Pignati, tenor Peter Girardot, and accompanist Ron Borelli on accordion and keyboard. The group performs throughout California and derives a great deal of happiness in bringing their style of music to others. What makes Trio Amore unique, however, is their particular interpretation of songs. The ensemble adds a touch of humor and dramatic flair to each performance, eliciting laughter and tears from their listeners. Since the group has been performing together, there have been countless requests for CD's and tapes. Therefore, the members of Trio Amore decided to record some of their favorite classic Italian love songs for their audience. They hope that everyone will enjoy these renditions, and share their profound love of Italian music. Ciao e grazie a tutti! Soprano Maria Fassio Pignati, a native San Franciscan, began singing when she was a very young child in her family's Italian restaurant; Leone's of North Beach. She began studying classical piano when she was eight years old and taught piano for several years. Maria graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lone Mountain College, where she majored in music and was an extension student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying voice and piano. Maria has performed throughout California, including appearing in many 'Feste Italiane' and countless civic events, and has also performed on local television. Being extremely proud of her Italian heritage, she is also very actively involved in the Italian-American community of San Francisco, and in March of 2003 will be awarded the title 'Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella della Solidarieta' from the Italian government. Her most memorable performances including singing solo for a Vice-President of the United States, a President of Italy, and Mother Teresa. Tenor Peter Girardot was born in London, England, and immigrated to Canada where he was awarded a four-year scholarship to study voice at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He has performed for the Toronto Opera Festival and the Canadian Broadcasting System. After moving to California, he sang twelve roles with the West Bay Opera. His roles have included Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Fritz in L'Amico Fritz, Riccardo in Un Ballo in Maschera, Rodolfo in La Boheme, Don Jose in Carmen, Faust in Faust, Florestan in Fidelio, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Tamino in Magic Flute, Des Grieux in Manon, and Otello in the same opera. Peter made his San Francisco Opera debut with conductor Rafael Kubelik in the opera Katya Kabanova. He has been with the House for over twenty years, and during this time has appeared with Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and other international stars. Accompanist Ron Borelli, a San Francisco native, began playing the accordion when he was seven years old, first learning Italian music. He then became interested in jazz accordion and studied with Don Haas, and also studied classical piano with Julian White. For the last several years he has performed opera on the accordion with the opera ensemble Trio Amore and has performed extensively throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. As an accordionist and pianist Ron performs in a wide variety of musical settings. He performed in Italy for the International Accordion Festival, appeared with the San Francisco Symphony, performed with the San Francisco Opera's production of Wozzeck, and performed with The Three Tenors in their Bay Area concert. Other appearances include work with the Diablo Ballet Orchestra and the Santa Rosa Symphony. Ron can be also be heard on CDs recorded with Those Darn Accordions and composer Valarie Morris.
