Bill grew up in it, the son of one of Bill Monroe's banjo players, Tony Ellis, now a professor of Ethnomusicology at St. Michael's College near Burlington, Vermont. Eleanor comes by it naturally, she's been singing like this her whole life.Rev. Gary Davis (1896-1972) is considered the benchmark guitar stylist, the Segovia of the "Piedmont" style.
