Keeping the Cauldron Warm

With Keeping the Cauldron Warm, Skeletal Spectre puts us in a lazy and nostalgic atmosphere. Released on March 27, 2026, this album is fully embedded in the traditions of the 1990s death/doom. At the forefront of this project, Rogga Johansson, known by the pseudonym "Behold the Pentagram", plays almost all instruments, thus strengthening the lonely and airtight nature of the work. This approach gives the album a coherent and deeply dark artistic vision. Musically, the influences are obvious and fully integrated, anchored in an ancient school heritage. Riffs are heavy, thick and suffocating, aided by slow to moderate paces. The general atmosphere is grave and oppressive, worn by cave-like vowels. Pieces like "The Morbid Winds" perfectly illustrate this overwhelming heaviness. Other titles reinforce the ubiquitous macabre imagery. The deliberately archaic production is reminiscent of the underground recordings of the 90s. The sound is raw and saturated, creating an almost claustrophobic feel. However, sometimes the set may seem monotonous as the pieces merge into each other. But this uniformity also enriches the overall experience conceived as an immersive ritual. In the end, it's a sincere and dark album that, despite some repeatability, is true to the roots of the genre. For fans of CELTIC FROST, HOODED MENACE, GRAVE, PAGANIZER and CATHEDRAL
