In the early eighties I moved to Vancouver as a naive youngster looking to join Canada's next big rock band. I hung around Little Mountain Sound in the lobby reading Billboard magazines until someone noticed me. To make a long story short, someone finally did notice me, world class producer Bob Rock who had me come in that night to play bass on local songster, Bob Coulter's record. In fact Bob Coulter took the photo for Surest Comfort. Before long I was playing bass in Bob Rock's band the Payola$. We toured North America playing with such bands as The Go Go's, Rush, Cheap Trick and headlined from New York to L.A. playing well over 100 US cities. We had hit songs on the radio, hit videos on MTV and to top the year off we won 4 Juno Awards. The following year we recorded the quadruple platinum record, Hammer On A Drum. One of the Juno's we won was Most Promising Group Of The Year for 1983 which brings me to my next band. Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts were recording demos with Bob Rock and Bob had me come in to play the bass. I immediately connected with these guys and stuck with them for nine years. We also won a Juno for Most Promising Group Of The Year in 1989, had hits on the radio and were in constant heavy rotation on Canada's Much Music video station. But the band I felt most connected to over my music career was The Blue Shadows with Billy Cowsill from the first American family band, The Cowsills. Billy was such an amazing singer and the band was so tight, every time we were on stage it was magical. We also were nominated for Best New Country Band at the 1994 Juno's. After the Blue Shadows, I took a few years off from playing. I went out one day and bought pro tools and there was no looking back. I've recorded three solo CDs since with each one improving from the previous one. That brings me to Surest Comfort, my latest collection of songs inspired from meaningful moments in my life.
