The Gospel Academy Award-winning Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, under the direction of Terrance Kelly, is a multiracial, interfaith group of 55 vocalists united in their love of gospel music with it's message of hope, joy, unity and justice. The choir was founded in 1986 as a result of a Gospel music workshop led by Emmy-winning co-founder and Artistic Director, Terrance Kelly, at Rhythmic Concepts' Jazz Camp West. The mission of the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir's is to inspire joy and unity among all people through black gospel and spiritual music traditions. Over the past 28 years, their exquisite vocal harmonies and stirring gospel repertoire have led to performances with many well respected artists, including Linda Ronstadt, Take 6, Pharaoh Sanders, Peter Gabriel, Lyle Lovett, Joan Baez, Edwin Hawkins, MC Hammer, and The Dixie Hummingbirds.
