Not all records are created with the same goal in mind. Following in the footsteps of MF Doom, Prefuse 73, and Damon Albarn, rjd2 has created a side project/ alter ego of sorts: The Insane Warrior. A strickly instrumental affair, the album " We Are the Doorways" was loosely inspired by horror and sci-fi film scores of the 70's and early 80's. While heavily leaning on big, expansive analog synth sounds, angular rhythms, and blissful ambient passages, the record still maintains the attention to groove the rjd2 is well known for. At times jazzy, psychedelic, and introspective, the Insane Warrior is yet another unique landmark in the catalog of an ever changing and growing artist.
