The DAVE OVERTHROW BAND combines the elements of Funk, Rock and Jazz that results in a brand of music that is energetic and exciting. From music with irresistible funky bass and drum grooves that will convincingly make you move, to inspirational solos from beginning to end, the group mixes great solos over funky and jazzy grooves. Dave has played with many different groups in addition to touring with his own band. This is Dave's first CD release. Dave plays cutting edge bass lines in progressive funk and jazz-rock styles in his own band and skillfully crafts interesting and imaginative bass lines in a variety of styles as a sideman. Also enjoying the instructing aspect of bass playing Dave authored 8 books on the electric bass and filmed 3 instructional DVD's, all published by Alfred/NGW. In addition to serving as a staff writer for "Bass Guitar Magazine" from 2002-2005 Dave has been teaching bass seminars at the well-known National Guitar Workshop each summer since 1983. This year Dave will be working with Billy Sheehan at the National Guitar Workshop's Connecticut campus and Stu Hamm at the Los Angeles campus. He has also started a new venture with WorkshopLive, a fantastic online guitar and bass instruction resource. Dave has filmed 60 video lessons for WorkshopLive.
