The new album Here Come The Selmanaires delivers breezymoments reminiscent of The Who (“Cerulean Sky”),percussive guitar work that evokes the Velvet Underground (“In the Direction of Yes”) and at least twosongs (“All I Really Want to Know” and the surf-tinged “LMNO6”) that rattle and hum with garage-band intensity. What makes the record interesting, rather than derivative, is the juxtaposition of styles track-by-track and, sometimes, within tracks.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Twin brothers Herb and Jason Harris met Tommy Chung in Atlanta in 2000. The first house they practiced in together was at 73 Selman Street in Reynoldstown, hence, the name of the band. However, before officially forming The Selmanaires, Herb, Jason, and Tommy started a live rock’n’roll karaoke band. They performed at various alcohol-induced functions, mostly at Little Five Points’ favorite burrito and extracurricular activity bar El Myr.Having learned some songwriting tricks from all the karaoke training, the boys in the band started writing some tunes of their own and played their first set of original material under the name The Selmanaires in the summer of 2003.
