After 4 ½ years of silence, Weezer finally make their long-anticipated return with an all new album this May and sold out UK tour in July. What they've been up to all that time remains a secret, but the wait proved to be worth it. Their third album, slyly titled The Green Album after the, erm, sleeve's green hue, is a spectacular return to form. Cleverer than your average 'nu metal' outfit (literally, their frontman attended Harvard), Weezer make a big enough fistful of power pop with all the harmonic trimmings to make their math-rock nerdiness the coolest thing going. The Green album follows the release of Pinkerton (1996) and their multi-Platinum self-titled debut which featured the huge international hit 'Buddy Holly'. In 1994/5, this single clinched several Grammy and MTV Awards for the band and catapulted them toward stardom.
