Product Description The fusion of orchestra with modern music is nothing new, but Globus imparts its uniquely creative approach to this marriage in such a way that the band can rightfully claim vanguard status in the Epic Rock genre. Since their 2006 debut album 'Epicon' (top 20 UK album pop charts, #12 Billboard singles), Globus have been blending original cinematic and trailer scores with melodic alternative, rock and world music song stylings. This has led to dozens of synch licenses in film (Spiderman, Harry Potter), television (Robot Chicken, Top Gear) and advertising (Spec Savers, Glenfiddich), as well as a worldwide, multi-generational fan base eagerly awaiting it's new 2022 album 'Cinematica'. Founded by multiple award-winning composer/producer Yoav Goren (also known for his work with Leonard Cohen) and featuring a diverse pool of lead vocalists (Lisbeth Scott, Anneke van Giersbergen) and A-list orchestras (LSO, Northwest Sinfonia), Globus weaves deeply emotional and cinematic stories in every single song, with influences spanning from Queen to Muse to Pink Floyd to Radiohead to Ennio Morricone and ELO. The CD comes with a gorgeous 24 page booklet that compliments the music experience, featuring artwork by Haim Goren and Michael Whitton, all song lyrics and per song performance credits. Review Globus have certainly come up with an album that lives up to its title. Eleven years after their last album they are returning with an engrossing album full of references and arrangements that are hugely cinematic. Among the songs that best define what they are about is 'War', with lush powerful orchestral work over a stunning full-on rock backing track and the amazing vocalists. This is just overwhelming stuff, kind of like the best of Hans Zimmer with a great rock band in tow. They mix it up a bit too, with 'Carry The Flame' heading firmly into R&B territory. Two cover versions are featured. 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is a surprisingly enjoyable touching rendition of a song I never thought I would actually enjoy listening to. Somehow they manage to make it more credible and affecting. They also tackle David Bowie's 'I'm Afraid Of Americans' and this is just spectacular. I much prefer it to the original and the band are to be congratulated for making a great song even better. There are plenty of tracks that showcase their instrumental prowess. 'Seraphim' is a terrific dramatic piece of music that would grace a blockbuster movie perfectly, featuring superb melody lines and top notch strings with that immense Globus rhythmic heart. This is certainly an album that that if you connect with it will only grow and grow to become more of a favourite.
