The Rough Guide to Barrelhouse Blues

De term `barrelhouse' komt van de goedkope bars in de zuidelijke staten van de VS waar Afrikaans-Amerikaanse arbeiders kwamen om te drinken en te dansen. De sterke drank werd direct uit vaten (`barrels') geschonken, de muziek was een up-tempo pianoblues die hier ontstond. Op deze leuke Rough Guide staan vroege pioniers als Cow Cow Davenport en Speckled Red, maar ook boogie-woogiehelden als Pete Johnson en Albert Ammons. De cd kreeg al uitstekende recensies, nu dus ook op vinyl.
