Het Engelse label World Music Network organiseert al een aantal jaren de Battle of the Bands, waarbij groepen zonder platencontract een demo kunnen insturen. De tracks op deze cd zijn afkomstig uit die competitie. De muziek komt uit de hele wereld, van Anansy Ciss met gitaarmuziek uit Mali tot eigentijdse Jiddische muziek.
