The Rough Guide to Blues Legends: Barbecue Bob

Barbecue Bob was de naam die Columbia Records aan blueszanger Dan Hornsby gaf. Hij wordt gezien als de zanger die er voor zorgde dat de Atlanta-blues in de jaren twintig populair werd. Vanaf 1927 nam hij 62 nummers op voor Columbia en werd een van hun best verkopende artiesten, na Bessie Smith, Ethel Waters en Blind Willie Johnson. Helaas overleed hij in 1931 op 29-jarige leeftijd en kreeg hij nooit de bekendheid van een Blind Willie McTell, die hij overigens als zijn gelijke kon zien.
