Wat is er nu leuker om bijzondere muziek op te duiken, vooral als die oud is en op vinyl verschenen is? Rare groove is een genre dat zijn naam dankt aan de Londense muziekscene uit de jaren 80, om obscure en zeldzame soul, funk en jazz uit de VS te beschrijven. We horen op deze cd dan ook zowel Britse bands (The New Mastersounds) als Zuid-Amerikaanse. Bijzonder is de track van Conjunto Papa Upa (op het Nederlandse label Music With Soul) en de track van Conjunto Alayon, een obscuur salsa-orkest uit de jaren 70 met een hele jonge Jimmy Bosch op trompet!
