The Rough Guide to Latin Rare Groove - Volume 1

Rare groove is een genre dat zijn naam dankt aan de Londense muziekscene uit de jaren 80, om obscure en zeldzame soul, funk en jazz uit de VS te beschrijven. Deze werd gebruikt door dance-djs die op zoek waren naar materiaal. Het materiaal op deze Rough Guide bestaat uit favorieten van djs en verzamelaars, maar is daarom per definitie onbekend. Dat maakt het niet minder leuk: er is juist veel te ontdekken. Geen compilatie van deze muziek zou compleet zijn zonder enkele zeer gezochte tracks uit de VS, zoals Joe Quijano, Orchestra Dee Jay en het Gilberto Sextet. De bonus-cd is van Spanglish Fly , met de allereerste opnames van de band, aangevuld met remixes, outtakes en enkele nieuw te verschijnen tracks.
