The Rough Guide to Psychedelic Salsa

De nieuw gestarte Rough Guide-serie met psychedelische wereldmuziek is een groot succes. Daarom nu een nieuw deel met salsa. Psychedelische rock en salsa ontstonden allebei in de jaren 60 in een periode van sociale onrust en experimenten. Bekende voorbeelden zijn Santana (rock) en Eddie Palmieri (salsa). Deze Rough Guide onderzoekt vroege voorbeelden zoals die van de Cubaanse violist Alfredo de la Fe, hier te horen met Orchestra Rytmo Africa-Cubana. Er is ook veel aandacht voor eigentijdse bands als Bio Ritmo, La Mecanica Popular, Bacalao Men, Quantic, Fantasma en San Lazaro.
