Gretchen Pleuss is an Ohio-bred singer/songwriter whose soft vocals and evocative songwriting style have quickly positioned her as one of the finest emerging acts in the folk genre. Hailing from a lower middle-class upbringing and having been likened to a modern-day Joni Mitchell, Gretchen’s honest lyrics and intricate melodies resonate with listeners from all walks of life and musical backgrounds. To date, Gretchen has played at an array of venues throughout the United States, Canada, the UK, and Ireland and opened for prominent acts such as Lisa Loeb, Loudon Wainwright III, Chely Wright, Damien Jurado, Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket), and Bill Payne (Little Feat, Doobie Brothers). Gretchen’s debut album, Daughter of the Broader Skies, will be released on Sun Pedal Recordings in April of 2019. The album is a reflection of Gretchen’s struggle to find her voice and place in the world. Addressing heavy topics such as identity, femininity, injustice, and heartbreak, Daughter of the Broader Skies seeks to raise poignant questions about where we are as a society in relation to personal setbacks.
