Greenwich Village, Live - November 1961

Whilst it was billed as his 'First New York Concert', Bob Dylan's gig at Carnegie Chapter Hall in Greenwich Village, in November 1961, was actually his first headlining concert anywhere. Although he was still a 'complete unknown' (he'd arrived in New York January 1961), Dylan's confidence and infamous arrogance were already evident. Much of his performance was professionally recorded, and excepts were broadcast on the radio at the time. When tapes of this show began circulating among collectors in the late 60s, the gig was hailed by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of his finest, most essential performances. His set comprised mainly traditional Folk and Blues songs and Woody Guthrie material, and, as you'll hear, this was indeed a tremendous gig, capturing his Bobness just as he was morphing into The Zeitgeist.
