EDITORIAL REVIEWS
A couple of years ago Robbie posted a multi-tracked percussion piece on a media site. Brian liked the piece and decided to play along with it, while recording his ideas at the time. Over the next year, more material was sent back and forth using all of the instruments at their disposal. The music came together organically, as neither musician had any preconceptions of how the parts would develop. Brian found himself walking on a musical path gently pushed by the music itself. Robbie felt free to meander as he created these paths, leaving space for Brian's melodies to emerge. They decided they needed one more creative contributor, and that was Paul. Over the next year the addition of bass cemented the percussive and melodic aspects of the music into one whole. Robbie re-imagined the original percussive scores to allow the soaring segments of flutes, whistles, voice and accordion and the equally exciting bass lines to create a cohesive trio. Brian Masterson's mixing and mastering ensured a rich trio soundscape that fully accented the quality of musicianship. The title came about after one listener commented It's like folk music but I'm not sure from which country. These are motifs from the Blue Sphere. Brian Dunning is an Irish born musician who lived in Portland, Oregon for a number of years. While there he was a member of Windham Hill recording artists Nightnoise. In recent years he has recorded regularly with keyboardist Jeff Johnson for the ARKMUSIC label. Robbie Harris is a very much in-demand percussionist on the Irish and International scene. Over the years he has recorded and performed with artists such as: Bobby McFerrin, Riverdance, Clannad, Bob Geldof, Kodaline and Rodrigo y Gabriela. He is currently on tour with the Afro Celt Sound System. Paul Moore is a recording and performing member of Van Morrison s band for the past 12 years. He is currently the Course Leader in Creative Musicianship at the British and Irish Institute of Modern Music.
