Inspired by two-time Oscar-winning documentarian Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Andy Schocken's film of the same name, Song of Lahore is an album centered around the Sachal Ensemble: musicians forced to play in secret under strict Islamist regime of their home country, Pakistan. The album contains songs performed by the Ensemble with Western luminaries. Song of Lahore is not a soundtrack in the traditional sense, but rather a companion album to the film.
