The discovery at last year's Wacken Festival is called Beyond The Black and this band manages to close a gaping musical gap in Germany: Beyond The Black play Female Fronted Metal! Their debut album Songs of Love and Death features metal that oscillates between epic and pomp, between filigree Gothic melodies and powerful guitar solos. The band embeds melancholic keyboard passages in their songs, but is not embarrassed by any metal catchy, as the single “In The Shadows “shows. The video for “In The Shadows” contains ugly original sequences of the cinema action spectacle “Northmen - A Viking Saga”, Viking metallers Amon Amarth released a music video for the release of the DVD now follows Beyond The Black. In addition to powerful compositions such as “Unbroken”, “Drowning In Darkness” and “Running To The Edge”, a cover version of the Motörhead ballad “Love Me Forever” also fits into the title list of this album. No wonder, these songs are predestined to focus on the extraordinary voice of 19-year-old Jennifer have. Songs of Love and Death is an album that was long overdue.
