‘ONE AND ALL’ is the follow-up to The Fisherman’s Friends’ eponymous debut album, which saw the group rocket into the UK album chart top ten selling over 150,000 copies and confirming their position as the fastest selling traditional folk act ever. The album is a collection of 14 songs from the sea and grand old shanties, and highlights some of the most beautiful and haunting personal favourites of the ten Cornishmen. From the spine-tingling Last Leviathan (also sung by Trevor Grills) to the rousing Mollymauk, The Fisherman’s Friends’ combined vocal strength has never sounded better or more moving. Many of the songs were designed to be uplifting work songs, but often lyrically they came from the dark depths of the ocean. The album also features a few new tracks including Sweet Maid of Madeira, the very first composition by The Fisherman’s Friends’ Billy Hawkins and Jon Cleave, Mary Anne a track that was written specifically for The Fisherman’s Friends and Cousin Jack a track written by Steve Knightley of Show of Hands. Embraced by the folk community (including a Good Tradition Award at the 2011 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards) ‘ONE AND ALL’ features a host of special guest instrumentalists including John McCusker – fiddle, Michael McGoldrick – pipes, flutes and whistles, Andy Cutting – melodeon and Leo Abraham – guitars.ONE AND ALL - The Fisherman’s Friends are:Jeremy Brown – Fisherman (52), John Brown – Fisherman (54), Julian Brown – Fisherman (57), Jon Cleave – Writer & Shopkeeper (54), Billy Hawkins – Potter (62), John Lethbridge – Farmer & Engineer (56), John McDonnell – Builder (62), Jason Nicholas – Fisherman (41), Peter Rowe – retired Fisherman (79) and the late Trevor Grills – Builder (54).Mary Anne, sung by the late Trevor Grills is available as a single now.‘ONE AND ALL’, is released on 26 August 2013 via Mighty Village/Universal.
