The soundtrack to the hit movie currently in select theaters is gaining momentum daily, as audiences are instantly connecting with the music featured in the film.The soundtrack from Universal Pictures’ Pitch Perfect, a musical comedy about the cutthroat world of college music competitions, includes exclusive a cappella mash-ups and medleys. The digital version of the soundtrack is currently available at online retailers and just became available at physical retail. The hit movie is currently in theaters nationwide.Jason Moore, the Tony-nominated director of the Broadway hit Avenue Q, makes his feature film debut with Pitch Perfect. Seven-time Grammy Award winner Harvey Mason, Jr. and Damon Thomas, known as The Underdogs, serve as album producers with Harvey Mason Jr., who also serves as vocal producer for the soundtrack album. The album’s exclusive mash-ups include the film’s The Barden Bellas combining Ace of Base’s “The Sign” and La Roux’s “Bulletproof,” as well as Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are (Amazing)” and Nelly’s “Just a Dream.” The movie’s Treblemakers perform a medley of Cee Lo Green’s “Bright Lights Bigger City” and B.o.B’s “Magic,” along with a medley that combines Ace of Base’s “The Sign” and The Bangles’ “Eternal Flame.” The finale features a gala mash-up of Jessie J’s “Price Tag,” Simple Minds’ “Don’t You Forget About Me,” Pitbull’s “Give Me Everything,” Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are (Amazing),” Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” and Gloria Estefan’s “Turn the Beat Around.” Album producers include Julianne Jordan, Julia Michels, Jason Moore and The Underdogs, with Jordan and Michels serving as executive music producers on the film. Tony Award-winning Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, American Idiot) serves as one of the movie’s vocal arrangersalong with Ed Boyer (The Sing Off), Deke Sharon (International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella co-founder), Ali Dee (Alvin and the Chipmunks, Ironman) and The Underdogs—whose track record includes collaborations with Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks, among others.
