Nachdem die Sängerin Maria João und ihr Pianist Mário Laginha zuletzt mit Mumadji ein Live-Album sowie mit Undercovers eine CD mit Coverversionen bekannter Popsongs veröffentlichten, liefert das portugiesische Duo nun endlich wieder ein Album mit neuen,selbstverfaßten Songs ab.Die Musik von Tralha zu definieren, ist keine leichte Aufgabe. Dem Album liegt, anders als den vier vorausgegangenen Studioalben Cor,Lobos, Raposas E Coiotes, Chorinho Feliz und Undercovers, kein genau definiertes Konzept zugrunde. Tralha (der portugiesische Titel bedeutet soviel wie Kram oder Krimskrams) ist vielmehr ein Sammelsurium unterschiedlichster Klänge, Ideen und musikalischer Stile. Es ist eine Art Patchwork aus jazzigeren Stücken, orientalischer Musik,afrikanischen Klangfarben, dezent poppiger Ambient-Music,lautmalerischen Vokalisen und vielem mehr.Ein Erlebnis!

TRALHA With Tralha we return to original compositions. This is what we definitely love doing: to compose, write, record and later play and sing live. The reason for this title ? Obviously because we like it. But it is also true that it outgrew the concept of this recording. Our last three original albums obeyed to well precised rendered rules - Cor, the Indic cultures, Lobos, raposas e coiotes, duo with a symphony orchestra, Chorinho Feliz, Brazil but Tralha is the first one, in many years, that kicked off without a defined subject. Firstly, we thought about making a mostly electric record. Then, we thought about joining also non instrumental sounds. Finally, we decided to gracefully join them all together. Here is the result. We gathered the stuff we wanted, when we wanted it. We used the sounds that each music or song longed for. We took advantage, to great extent, of the creativity and musicianship of the wonderful musicians playing with us on this album. When we hear this CD we understand everybody understands, for sure- that there is an enormous collective work. And nothing makes us happier.
