History records 3 July 2013 as Judith Durham's 70th birthday Australia's first international pop princess is now a reigning monarch when it comes to the world's top female vocalists. This 'platinum' milestone is one to truly celebrate for Australia's 'first lady' of song, and Universal Music Australia is proud to mark this occasion with the release of The Platinum Album. This beautiful birthday anthology features 23 standout tracks from the past 50 years, judged simply on their artistic merit, They span Judith's earliest studio performances in 1963, to two gems recorded in recent months. All tracks were personally selected by Judith in recent months, before she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage during The Seekers' Golden Jubilee Tour. Presently, she remains in the care of Epworth Private Hospital in Melbourne where she continues an intensive rehabilitation program. The Platinum Album includes one of her very first recordings (before she joined The Seekers) Jelly Bean Blues, two of the biggest Seekers hits The Carnival Is Over and Morningtown Ride tracks from her solo albums 'Gift Of Song', 'Climb Ev'ry Mountain', 'Hold On Your Dream', 'Epiphany' and 'The Australian Cities Suite', along with her most recent recordings, Forever And Ever and (When You Come To The End Of) A Perfect Day, both of these released for the first time, Fans have begged for a recording of A Perfect Day and here it is at last. The Platinum Album also features several rarities, including Memories (the B-side of her second solo single in the 60s, co-written by Judith with David Reilly) and Bonny Face, a 1970 single released only in Brazil, along with her 1997 ARIA Top 20 hit "I Am Australian", recorded with Russell Hitchcock (Air Supply) and the late Mandawuy Yunupingu, This marks its first Album release. Beautifully packaged, with notes by Judith herself, her biographer Graham Simpson, and the celebrated writer/musician Chris Patrick, beautifully illustrated with rare and vintage photographs, this really is something to celebrate!
