The opener summarizes a lot of the great things about this record. “Pulling Mussels” is a jaw dropping slice of British kitchen sink drama with some genius songwriting. The album doesn’t stay in one place; it’s fidgety and crackling with colours, exploding into life as one of the haunting impressions of “Argybargy” is its vivid sparkle. The record includes a lot of remarkably upbeat tunes, although they’re diminished appropriately by the Squeezers’ pessimistic sense of humour.
