Beethoven for Three

Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos, and Yo-Yo Ma's fifth 'Beethoven for Three' release features 'Symphony No. 3, 'Eroica' (Op. 55)' and the 'Leonore Overture No. 3 (Op. 72b)'. Joined by violist Antoine Tamestit for both pieces, the group performs these landmark compositions in new arrangements for piano quartet by Shai Wosner. Written within a few years of each other, 'Symphony No. 3, 'Eroica'' and the 'Leonore Overture No. 3' are a triumphant beginning to Beethoven's 'middle period', exploring heroism and nobility of spirit and - in the case of the 'Eroica' - reinventing the symphonic form for the Romantic era.
