Dancing Queen: Rameau Meets Abba

A surprising symbiosis: ABBA and Rameau - the Lautten Compagney Berlin combines French baroque music with world hits from ABBA in a fascinating way on her new album with saxophonist Asya Fateyeva. French baroque music meets ABBA - Le roi amuse and Dancing Queen. The Lautten Compagney Berlin makes it possible. The Alte Musik-Ensemble, awarded many times, is known for its innovative projects, especially for its epoch and cross-genre collaborations. Then Philip Glass met the Beatles on Tarquinio Merula or Henry Purcell. Always as entertaining as ear-opening and allowed exciting new views and discoveries. Now, in the year of its 40th anniversary, the Lautten Compagney dares again with the active support of the saxophonist Asya Fateyeva an almost eye-catching combination - or as the Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote after a concert: A fascinating symbiosis of ABBA and Rameau. Ensemble founder said Wolfgang Wolfgang Wolfgang er: Our arranger and cellist Bo Wiget wanted to do ABBA songs and I then suggested Rameau, because with such combinations, it is always important that the party has a strong intrinsic value in addition to pop music, and this is absolutely the case with Rameau. Because Rameau is very artful, but also exalted, dancing and avant-garde. so there are always good connections and bridges to ABBA. Jean-Philipp Rameau's music continues to impress today with its instrumental colours, acoustic effects, heartfelt rhythms and surprising harmonies. The Swedish pop group ABBA has been one of the world's most successful bands in pop history since their victory at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with Waterloo. Like no formation before them, Benny Andersson worked meticulously on success as a musical head and Björn Ulvaeus as a lyricist. Only published was what clearly had number 1 hit potential, nothing but mere filler came out. Whether glam rock or ballad, whether happy pop or disco hit, everything has been produced with equal conscientiousness. Thus, the very own, non-copiable ABBA sound was created, the trademark of the band, which today can be considered as co-founders of modern pop music. A sound that shaped a generation, as it is said in the booklet of the album. For the lutes Compagney and Asya Fateyeva, arrangeur Bo Wiget has set the ABBA hits with a lot of knowledge of instrumental colours and effects for baroque ensemble and artfully transferred the vocals of the two singers Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad to the saxophone. The classic saxophone carries the sound of the human voice in itself - and we adapt songs for instruments, so Wolfgang Katschner. We combine it with zinc, recorder, oboe, whereby the saxophone adds its own colour in this context. The instrument has a special image, so we play, of course, even if it is not jazzy, but classically played. And the chosen works of Rameau are also enriched by the sound of Asya Fateyeva's saxophone, it sounds particularly attractive when the works of Rameau and Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus on some titles on the Mmermer.
