“Per un pugno di samba” è il quinto album inciso da Francisco Buarque de Hollanda, noto come Chico Buarque, uno dei più importanti autori ed interpreti della musica brasiliana popolare.

L’album pubblicato nel 1970, è stato registrato durante un esilio auto-imposto in Italia nel 1969 a seguito dell’arresto che aveva subito in Brasile nel 1968 per il suo impegno politico contro la dittatura militare.

In Italia incontra Sergio Bardotti che produce il disco scrivendo testi in italiano e musiche, e soprattutto il maestro Ennio Morricone che arrangia i brani.

Da segnalare la presenza di Mia Martini e Loredana Bertè tra le voci dei cori.
