Stadt der Engel CD Soundtrack Das himmlische Melodram City of Angels, das Wim Wenders Meisterwerk "Der Himmel über Berlin" ein bißchen zu sehr ähnelt, um einfach nur als Inspirationsquelle gedient zu haben, stellt recht hohe Anforderungen an moderne Popsong-Soundtracks. Während die oberflächliche Spiritualität von U2s "If God Will Send His Angels" gerade noch als moribund durchgeht, erinnert Alanis Morissettes "Uninvited" auf gespenstische Weise an Led Zeppelins "Kashmir" (und klingt zudem noch ein wenig wie ein Celine-Dion-Verschnitt). Im Vergleich dazu klingen die Beiträge der Herren Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, Peter Gabriel und Eric Clapton fast wie Kompositionen von Mancini. Der Altmeister Gabriel Yared wurde ans Ende des Albums verbannt; schließlich hat er ja auch nur den Film gemacht. --Jerry McCulley
