John J. Becker: Soundpieces 1-7

John J. Becker (1886-1961) is de laatste van de "American Five", een groep componisten waartoe ook Charles Ives, Carl Ruggles, Henry Cowell en Wallingford Riegger behoorden. In de jaren `20 en `30 vielen zij onder de radicaalste componisten van Amerika. De zeven kamermuziekstukken van Becker zijn hier voor het eerst samengebracht. Hij kon heel goed omgaan met het - toen nieuwe - idioom van dissonante contrapunt.
