On August 27, 1972, fresh off their now-legendary European tour, the Grateful Dead traveled to Veneta, OR and reunited with the Merry Pranksters for a common cause – to throw a benefit concert for the Kesey family's Springfield Creamery. A stage was erected under the hot Oregon sun at the Olde Renaissance Fairgrounds, tickets were printed on the backs of the Creamery’s yoghurt labels, and the rest is history… The stage was set for the most coveted Grateful Dead show of all time!

Key Points:

* The most requested live show in Grateful Dead history

* The “Sunshine Daydream” concert film has been unreleased for 41 years and features a previously unseen version of ‘Bird Song’

* The film captures the band at the height of their powers (fresh off the Europe ’72 tour) and at the epicenter of the counterculture movement.

* Regarded as the very last “Acid Test”

* 8/27/72 was the hottest day on record to date in Oregon. The film documents a now infamous lack of water at the concert site and provides a context for the “clothing optional” vibe of the day!

Content:

* 3 CDs and 1 DVD

* Previously unreleased “Sunshine Daydream” concert film featuring gloriously remastered picture and all new stereo and 5.1 audio mixes done by Jeffrey Norman at TRI Studios in San Rafael, Calif. and mastered by Grammy® winning engineer David Glasser at Air Show Mastering in Boulder, Colo.
