Rare recording of the trio version of Sean Lennon's Mystical Weapons (their only other release is Greg and Sean duo on Sean's label). This is Sean Lennon's improvisational collaboration with Deerhoof drummer Greg Saunier; artist, animator and projectionist Martha Colburn (not heard on recording, but accompanying video exists with her projections); and multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily. Both Sean and Shahzad share electric guitars, basses, and keyboards. The trio version of Mystical Weapons has only performed about three times together and never released a recording. There is also an accompanying video and interview with the band that can be used for digital extra (from download code) This recording is from a WNYC Spinning on Air episode originally aired on January 13, 2013 (mostly only heard in the NYC area). Files of the music were pulled from the internet on January 28th (15 days after airing), although the accompanying interview is still available.
