Composer, pianist, conductor, lecturer, ethnomusicologist, political campaigner.over a long and productive life Fernando Lopes-Graça pursued a wide range of activities, by no means all necessarily associated with the esoteric world of mid-twentieth-century European modernism. If the spirit (and sound) of Bartók is seldom far away, Lopes-Graça's own voice and aesthetic emerge strongly in Luís Duarte's recital of solo piano works, which includes three first recordings.
