Prokofiev: Alexander Nevsky/Lieutenant Kijè Suite

`Alexander Nevsky' en de `Lieutenant KijÚ Suite' zijn twee van Prokofiev's meest dramatische werken. De muziek van `Lieutenant KijÚ' was oorspronkelijk geschreven als soundtrack voor de gelijknamige film in 1934. Vrij snel hierna bewerkte Prokofiev dit tot een suite in vijf delen. In 1938 werkte hij samen met regisseur Eisenstein voor muziek bij de film `Alexander Nevsky'. Deze muziek werd weer bewerkt tot een cantate voor mezzo-sopraan, orkest en koor, zoals op deze cd te horen. Uitgevoerd door het fantastische Utah Symphony onder leiding van Thierry Fischer, in superieure opnamekwaliteit.
