Het University of Texas Wind Ensemble speelt een belangrijke rol op het gebied van nieuwe muziek, aangezien het al sinds 1998 muziek in opdracht laat schrijven. Deze cd is daar geen uitzondering op. Onder leiding van Jerry Junkin speelt het de wereldpremiÞre van John Mackeys Wine Dark Sea, plus stukken van Dan Welcher, Donald Grantham en Frank Ticheli. Eigentijdse muziek op zijn best, in superbe opnamekwaliteit.
