Mephisto and Co. (Oue, Minnesota Orchestra)

Opnieuw een meesterwerkje uit de catalogus van Reference Recordings, het label dat bekend staat om zijn uitmuntende geluidskwaliteit. De cd kwam in 1998 uit en staat op The Absolute Sound Super Disc List. Het thema is intrigerend: duivelse muziek. Dirigent Oue bracht de Mephisto Waltz #1' van Liszt samen met o.a. Night on a Bald Mountain (Moussorgsky), de Lucifer Polka van Strauss en andere stukken van dezelfde strekking. De dynamiek is enorm, je hoort vele kleine details waarvan je niet wist dat ze er waren. Het orkest is in topvorm en Jorja Fleezanis verzorgt de vioolsolos.
