Der siebte von Jon Savage kuratierte Sampler erreicht die Jahre 1977-79. Im Gegensatz zu den frühen 1970ern, hatte Savage in dieser Zeit angefangen, eine größere Vielfalt an Musik zu hören - Punk natürlich, aber auch der Beginn des Post-Punk, der frühen einheimischen Electronica, der europäischen Synth-Disco, Dub, New Wave und einzigartige Einzel-Tracks wie 'Dontsplitit' von Subway Sect oder 'White Night' von den Lines - das steht für eine turbulente, hochkreative Zeit, die eine geteilte, immer härter werdende Außenwelt widerspiegelt.
Es waren die späten 70er Jahre, überall kollidierten Symbole, und Savage war mittendrin - vom Fan und Konsument zum Praktiker geworden - zuerst mit dem 'Sounds' ab 1977 und dann mit 'Melody Maker' .
