For many years Ace Records Where The Girls Are series has been the place to look for US girl groups of the 1960s particularly those of the rare and collectable variety. This latest volume features hard-to-find titles by famous artists such as the Blossoms, the Orlons, the Sherrys, Dee Dee Sharp, Jan Bradley and Little Eva, plus a host of rarities by lesser known but equally great-sounding acts. Most of the tracks are new to CD, including previously unissued tunes by the Del-Phis (alias Martha & the Vandellas), the Fran-cettes and the Four Havens. Highlights include fabulous numbers by Charlotte O Hara (aka Bonnie of Bonnie & the Treasures), Nikki Blu (alias Marlena Davis of the Orlons) and Diane Christian (of the Darlettes). The booklet features a plethora of scarce illustrations and a detailed track commentary by series compilers Mick Patrick and Malcolm Baumgart.
