Mit seinem Gitarrenspiel hat Mack Mitte der 60er zahlreiche Bluesrocker beeinflusst, darunter Stevie Ray Vaughan, während er als weißer Blues\-Sänger zu den allerbesten zählte. 1963 nutzte er die verbliebene Studiozeit nach Abschluss einer Aufnahmesession für eine eigene Aufnahme: er improvisierte \x27Memphis\x27 von Chuck Berry aus dem Jahr 1959. Das Plattenlabel Fraternity veröffentlichte den Track und zur allgemeinen Überraschung stieg es bis auf Platz 5 der US\-Pop\-Charts. Es folgten etliche Singles, darunter \x27Wham!\x27, \x27Chickin\x27 Pickin\x27 und Balladen wie \x27Where There\x27s A Will\x27. 1964 brachte Fraternity das Album \x27The Wham Of That Memphis Man!\x27 auf den Markt. Die in diesem Jahr einsetzende British Invasion verhinderte jedoch einen größeren Erfolg.
