Carl Orff's most famous work is, without a doubt, the famous “Carmina Burana” in which he set Middle High German and Latin texts from Benediktbeuern Abbey to music. The work, completed in 1937, quickly developed into one of the most important choral works of our time. It is included in a reference recording conducted by Eugen Jochum, the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and great soloists such as Gundula Janowitz and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. As a bonus, a very early recording by Ferenc Fricsay, the RIAS Kammerchor and the RIAS Symphony Orchestra Berlin from 1944 is included. Other works such as “Die Bernauerin”, “Antigonae”, “Die Kluge” are also by top-class conductors (Herbert von Karajan, Rafael Kubelik, Ferdinand Leitner), orchestras (Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Sae Orchestra Chissen Staatsoper Dresden) and soloists (Peter Schreier, Christa Ludwig, Gottlob Frick, Inge Borkh, Ernst Haefliger).
