This generous single disc gathers most of the unquestionably essential rockers the pianist/singer waxed for Specialty. Whether backed by the nonpareil New Orleans studio band or his own wild road combo, the Upsetters (hear "Keep A-Knockin'"), Richard's brief 195 57 stint on Specialty marked him as a true rock visionary, and the galvanic energy level of "Tutti Frutti," "Long Tall Sally," and "Good Golly Miss Molly" is unmatched in R&B history.
