Fifty years after his passing, Leadbelly returns to American roots music's center stage with 17 tracks recently discovered and now released for the first time. Recorded at the BBC studios in New York City in 1938 and in Salt Lake City in 1946, Leadbelly sings blues and yodels and exciting new renditions of many of his familiar standards. The two sessions are bookends for the most prolific period of his career when radio shows, clubs, concert halls, recording dates and college campuses expanded his musical performance and created the unique influence Leadbelly has become.
