DESCRIPTION Remastered USA version, the last of their albums to be released with a different track listing in America & Britain, "Let's Spend the Night Together" & "Ruby Tuesday" were both included having been released as a double a-side in America."Ruby Tuesday" went to number one in early 1967. Both the US and the UK version of the album was the last to be 'produced' by Andrew Loog Oldham. "Something Happened to Me Yesterday" features Brian Jones on sax and trombone. Regular keyboard players Jack Nietzsche and Ian Stewart are joined by Nicky Hopkins, who plays piano on several tracks, the start of his lengthy spell as a sideman. Even the songs that didn't become smash hits, such as the speed demon "Miss Amanda Jones" and the honky-tonking "She Smiled Sweetly," are more than curiosities despite experimental touches with organ, sitar, and kazoo. Mick Jagger proves, on the psychedelic "Yesterday's Papers" and "Ruby Tuesday," that he can sing a sexy ballad even if he's incapable of crooning. Of course, the opening piano-driven rocker "Let's Spend the Night Together" sounds as fresh and sexual as it ever did. --Steve Knopper
