EDITORIAL REVIEWS
The "Las Vegas Soundtrack," the first CD companion to the hit NBC show "Las Vegas" features artists spotlighted on the series, which has been celebrated as a showcase for hot, high-energy music from both Vegas stalwarts and cutting-edge contemporary acts. It may be true that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but you don't have to stay at the Montecito (the fictional epicenter of "Las Vegas") or anywhere else on The Strip to feel the heat and beat of Sin City.
Helping transport you there are Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation" --the show's U.S. theme song-- paired with the Junkie XL remix; the Wayne Newton vs. The Legion of Doom remix of Newton doing "Suspicious Minds" (created especially for the "Las Vegas Soundtrack"; Newton performed a more traditional version of the classic on season one of "Las Vegas"); Tom Jones with Stereophonics on "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)," a #4 U.K. hit that was heard on season two; Kool & the Gang featuring Sean Paul and Jamaican reggae star Spanner Banner on "Ladies Night" (the original was heard on season two, with this incarnation slated for season three); a burst of down-home flavor from hick-hopper Cowboy Troy featuring Big & Rich called "I Play Chicken With the Train," which was also the first single from Cowboy Troy's #2 Country debut album (Troy and Big & Rich will perform the song on the upcoming season premiere); and D-Nat and ONDA featuring De La Soul on the Isley Brothers reconfiguration "It's a New Thing (It's Your Thing)."
Rounding out the set are cuts from Fatboy Slim ("Wonderful Night"); British/Australian dance duo BodyRockers (the chart-topper "I Like the Way"); the L.A.-bred Pussycat Dolls (an exclusive version of "We Went as Far as We Felt Like Going"), who appeared on the show during season two, season three, and in April, 2005 celebrated the grand opening of the Pussycat Dolls Lounge at Caesars Palace; up-and-coming British R&B chanteuse and soon-to-be "Las Vegas" guest Vanessa Brown (the U.S. debut of "Whipped"); Toronto's trip-hop revolutionary Esthero ("Wikked Lil' Grrrls"); and "Las Vegas" composer Charlie Clouser ("Let It Ride," a remix of the show's international theme song, making its Stateside debut), along with the rare Passengerz European Mixshow remix of Michael Bublé's "Sway" (the original version of which was performed by Bublé on season one).
