Fadozangeres Misia heeft een moeilijke periode in haar leven achter de rug. Zij ziet haar nieuwe cd als een soundtrack van die periode, waarin we hemel en hel tegenkomen, hardheid en passie. Zij voelt zich nu vrijer in haar muziek: "this album includes fado music, but it is not an album of fado. Pura Vida is full of gaps, rough edges and sometimes a little `silk, velvet and wool'. The Portuguese guitar is Heaven and the electric guitar Hell." Een opmerkelijke, maar fraaie plaat.
