Banda Tepeuani è stata costituita nel 1977. Il gruppo è composto da cinque musicisti il cui stile si è sviluppato nel corso degli anni esibendosi in vari incontri politici e artistici in tutto El Salvador. La parola "Banda" descrive l'ensemble tradizionale, che con flauto e tamburo, anima gli incontri nazionali. "Tepeuani" viene dal Nahuatl e significa "vincitore della battaglia".
